Welcome Green Party of the United States!
 
The Green Party of Alameda County has two different sites for you to consider. One is the Marriott/Oakland Convention Center, located in downtown Oakland. The other is the Berkeley Community Theater, located in downtown Berkeley. Both of these sites are located within two blocks of the BART rail line, with easy access to the Oakland and San Francisco airports.
 
The Marriott Oakland Convention Center is a standard convention center, with 484 hotel rooms and a capacity of over 6,000 people, and it has typical convention center pricing. 

The Berkeley Community Theater,  owned by the Berkeley School District, has a 3,500 person capacity, and it is significantly less expensive when all basic expenses are considered (facilities, convention and meeting rooms, housing, and food). It offers us more flexibility with housing and meals, and the opportunity to have a "less corporate" convention, but its traditional use has been for plays, concerts, and lectures, and not for conventions..

The Green Party of Alameda County has over 10,000 registered members who live in the Oakland/Berkeley area.  We have been active for over 15 years, and can draw on a wealth of skills and backgrounds to host the convention.  Our volunteers include several who have previously helped coordinate conferences or gatherings, for up to 1000 people. Our members regularly volunteer for Green Party and other activist projects, with as many as 100 Greens working on a single project at the same time. Seven Greens currently hold elected office in Alameda County, and in our region (the San Francisco Bay Area), there are many other elected Green officeholders.
